Q: Why would you apply for both data and sales positions?
A: Because I am qualified and capable of both roles, I was a successful sales rep before transitioning into data analytics. Now, I am equipped with multi-domain expertise and contribute more than a typical sales rep.

I am passionate about data, but the job demand for data-related positions in the HK pharmaceutical and medical device industry is low. There are over 30 companies, but there has been only 1 opening in the past few months. Therefore, I decided to apply for sales-related positions and expand my job search to other industries.

The situation is challenging, but I will not despair and throw up my hands. I am not starting from scratch — I am starting with experience. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. It is not a pleasant experience to be unemployed but I believe it is also an opportunity to reflect, zen, and learn. Career is not necessarily a straight road and people learn and grow the most during difficult time.

Q: Why is the website called PELI5 Data Solutions? Aren’t you looking for a job?
A: In 2023, I was learning SEO and digital marketing. To enhance storytelling, I created some content and presented my data science side projects under a fictitious data consultancy called PELI5. The name is inspired by a popular Reddit Post, Please Explain Like I’m 5. 

The page appeared realistic enough that some colleagues though I was running a side business therefore I suspended the page. Now I reopen and modify it into my portfolio / personal website to help my job searching.

Q: Why did you leave your previous job?
A: I was offered an external opportunity to advance my career and lead a larger team, which I gratefully accepted. However, shortly after my onboarding, I had a family emergency that required my immediate attention and focus. Now the issue is resolved, I am eager to return to the job market.
